Retreat 2017

The world does not suffer from a shortage of yoga retreats. Most are lead by an individual senior teacher and follow a particular lineage. Many are “yoga vacations” near a beach or in the mountains which offer a little bit of yoga and a lot of vacation. You leave these retreats feeling great, but seldom manage to successfully incorporate what you have learned or experienced when you get back to your daily life and the immediate benefits fade away. Our retreat is different in that it hopes to address and change this. It will introduce you to a broader concept of Yoga and personal well-being management and provide you with a large toolbox to teach you how to integrate these tools into your own life. In a supportive atmosphere and beautiful location we will create a space where it will be easy to assimilate what you will be taught. Our retreat will combine relaxation, intellectual and physical challenge and ample free time to explore the surroundings and choose the activities that best suit your needs and interests.

A VARIETY OF INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCED TEACHERS

We have assembled a group of passionate and experienced yoga teachers and massage and body work therapists from a range of different traditions who will work together to help make YOU autonomous in maintaining and implementing the tools of yoga that best work for you in your life after the retreat.
• Yoga styles include classic Hatha, Iyengar, Ashtanga, Satyananda, Yin Yoga,
• Tantra and Synergy Yoga
• Meditation practices cover Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) as developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Tantra, Classic Pranayama and Yoga Nidra
• Body work experience includes Thai and Traditional Body Massage, Reflexology, Watsu and Sports Therapy

We will present a wide range of practices that extend beyond only physical postures and challenge the body, the mind, the emotions and the intellect. Examples of some of these practices include:

Our exceptional location will create the perfect atmosphere in which to learn and assimilate what the programme offers. Delicious, wholesome food catering for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians, a heated indoor pool and sauna, an abundance of nature and walks in the area and world class massage and body therapists will all contribute to your well-being.

PROGRAMME

Included in the price of our programme is 5 hours of yoga a day, a total of 33 hours for the whole retreat. Optional afternoon activities such massages and drinks other than tea and coffee will be charged separately. Guests should plan to arrive on the afternoon of Saturday the 13th May to check in and meet for an introduction and dinner at 7pm. Departure is on Saturday the 20th May after lunch.

OUR TEACHERS

Prashant Tewatia, Goa, India
Trained in the direct lineage of BKS Iyengar, Prashant runs retreats and teaches yoga in India, Asia and Europe throughout the year. His teaching is focussed on the correct application of yoga asanas for their therapeutic and empowering benefits. Prashant will inspire you to explore the outer limits of your body’s capacity and benefit from the tremendous capacity for healing inherent in the correct practice of yoga.

Will Lindeque, Cape Town, South Africa
A senior teacher at a number of yoga studios in his native Cape Town, Will specialises in flowing vinyasa yoga that incorporates traditional asana and breathing techniques with dynamic movement. As a patient and compassionate teacher, Will inspires a more holistic and personal connection to your yoga practice.

Philippe Brawermann, Brussels, Belgium
With decades of yoga experience covering a large spectrum of modalities, Philippe has explored, experienced, studied and taught around the world. Philippe brings a deep and broad knowledge to these ancient practices and integrates these into our modern context and lifestyle. Apart from the unexpected you can expect to learn and utilise powerful tools and practices in meditation, pranayama and yoga nidra.

Hakim la Rocca, Cape Town, South Africa
With over 7 years of experience in holistic massage, Thai massage and sports massage, Hakim is a dedicated and qualified massage therapist. With experience as a masseur for international rugby teams, the Cape Argus Cycle Tour, the ABSA Cape Epic Mountain Bike race in South Africa and the Cirque du Soleil, Hakim is passionate about the human body and movement.

COST AND ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS

• All options include 3 yoga classes and 3 meals per day.
• Weekly and daily participants receive discounts on optional activities and massage.
• Off-site accommodation options all include transfers to and from the lodge.
• Optional workshops and massage, as well as travel costs to and from the retreat are NOT included in the price.
